It was so exciting for me to have my name in the changelog! What I learned from that is that even someone like me can make a contribution. I found my task by looking at the bug tracker. I read it and said, that doesn't sound so hard. I made sure I understood it, and then just did it.

There are lots of other ones like that out there, so I'd encourage other people to do the same.

Hi Seth,

I'm glad your are enjoying the blog. I also find the CHANGELOG file can be very hard to read, but it is th best way to get a feeling for the progress of 1.5. Also, if you are having a problem with a Joomla site, sometimes something in the changelog file that looked weird before, will make sense, and you know that your issue has been worked on, and maybe fixed!

Good luck with your non-profit website, my website is also non-profit (crawl.net.au).

If you do not need to have a live website in the next 3 months, then you might be making the right decision in waiting. However, while there are many issues to be fixed, and possible big changes in the code, the workflows to create content in a joomla site, won't change.

Perhaps it could help you down the track to download a local version of Joomla and play around with it, making menu's and seeing how it all fits together.

Cheers.

I really appreciate you putting this blog up. I don't understand the technical stuff, but I can read your excitement. I'm telling my nonprofit org to wait.. just a little longer.. until 1.5 is finalized to start our site. For my level of understanding, this is the best resource I have found to gauge where the project stands. Thank you.
